Govind Bharwani, PhD., Director of Nursing Ergonomics and Alzheimer's Care at Wright State University, Dayton, OH stated that many people do not understand just how stressful the bathing ADL is to both dementia patients and care providers. The patient often expresses agitation, aggression, discomfort and resistance during a bath.

Improved Well-being
There have been numerous studies measuring the effect of alternative bathing techniques, one of which is the use of prepackaged, no-rinse disposable bathing cloths. The patient’s negative reactions to a bath are reduced when using this bathing procedure. EZbath maintains a consistent, warm temperature and provides a bath in less “hands on” time which translates to reduced anxiety. Rather than being physically and emotionally draining, the bathing experience contributes to an overall feeling of improved well-being and self-image. The patient and caregiver, professional or family, have completed a difficult task with considerably less stress.; “bathing without a battle” or at least “bathing with less of a battle”.
"With the disposable, I am assured the resident is consistently getting the full
benefits of the bath, unlike with a basin bath."
